Using a recruiter can be an amazing experience, whether it’s for an employer looking for top-notch talent to fill an opening, or a qualified candidate looking for a new career opportunity. Many companies and individual job seekers can attest to this. However, recruiters sometimes do not value their clients and candidates, something that can be seen through certain actions they take. These are some behaviors that you should avoid when looking for a new recruiter.

  1. If a new recruiter seems rushed or inattentive when talking, he or she is probably not the recruiter for you. A rushed or inattentive recruiter is a sign of someone with too many things to do already, meaning new candidates or clients can be thrown on the backburner. Always look for a recruiter who takes the time to talk, and tries to get to know you.

  1. If you have a recruiter that spams you over and over again, it is time to move on. Not only is a recruiter spamming you annoying, this behavior shows that they do not know how to do their job well. A seasoned veteran knows the fine line between persistence and spam.

  1. For candidates, if a recruiter asks you to about your salary the first time you talk to them, it is definitely a good idea to find another recruiter. This shows that they are thinking more about their paycheck than your well being. It is also rude, and not something a professional will ask right away.

  1. If you call over and over again and get no response, it is best to move on. A recruiter that is not easy to contact does not have you high on their list of priorities.

  1. For candidates, if a recruiter does not do any interview preparation with you, they do not have your best interests in mind. Any good recruiter will go over what kind of questions you should expect in an interview, and point you towards some kind of a guide for further interview prep.

If your recruiter displays any of the behaviors listed above, it is time to drop them and find someone that values your time and knows how to get you into that dream job. If you’re looking for a new recruiter, give Advanced Medical Resources a call today!
